What are the Most Promising Specialty Drugs Currently in the Pipeline?

Sheena Babin, PharmD, business development and clinical pharmacy manager at Ochsner Health System, discusses promising specialty drugs to watch out for in the pipeline.

Babin:The pipeline is vast and I would say there are many, many exciting things in the pipeline. As medications are being developed, we see that there are going to see are changes in disease state management.

One of the things that really excites me is the oral oncology field. The advancements in oncology, with more targeted gene therapies, it’s exciting to see that progression-free survival rates are increasing with these patients. That will be something that—as a pharmacist—we will see a change in the landscape and the management of these oncology patients to a more chronic disease state management process.
