Survey Shows Vaccine Hesitancy Among Some Health Care Workers

Pharmacy Times® spoke with Tomas Villanueva, DO, MBA, FACPE, SFHM, practicing health care provider, and associate vice president for clinical resources at Vizient, a member-driven, health care performance improvement company, about vaccine hesitancy among health care workers. A recent survey of Vizient Pharmacy Program participants, which included 167 partial and completed responses, showed 27% have seen moderate to high vaccine hesitancy among health care workers.

Tomas Villanueva, DO, MBA, FACPE, SFHM: [Vaccine hesitancy among health care workers] is real, and we’re seeing that accounts on the different levels of training, per say. Most physicians actually were very much involved with getting vaccinated, but we started seeing that number go down on nursing, and even other ancillary services. … It’s frontline workers and not so much the providers that we’re seeing it.
