Influenza Vaccine: Safe Storage Tips
In the video, JoEllen Wolicki, a nurse educator with the CDC, notes that that CDC recommends an “in purpose-built unit specifically designed for the storage of biologics, or if necessary, a stand alone household refrigerator” to store flu vaccines.
An instructional video posted on the CDC's YouTube page this week provides pharmacists and other health care professionals with information about safe vaccine storage of the 2017-2018 influenza vaccines.
In the video, JoEllen Wolicki, a nurse educator with the CDC, notes that that CDC recommends an “in purpose-built unit specifically designed for the storage of biologics, or if necessary, a stand alone household refrigerator” to store flu vaccines.
The CDC also recommends that the vaccines should be stored between 2 and 8 degrees Celcius, according to the video.
