Expert: Neuroendocrine Tumor Treatment Can Take Multiple Forms

Mei Ka Fong, PharmD, BCOP, said there are multiple treatment approaches for patients with NETs.

In an interview with Pharmacy Times about her presentation at the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) 2021 neuroendocrine tumor (NET) Medical Symposium, Mei Ka Fong, PharmD, BCOP, said there are multiple treatment approaches for patients with NETs.

For patients with slow-growing tumors, low tumor burden, or asymptomatic disease, Fong said the first line of treatment is always observation. For patients requiring medical management, surgery and radiation are always a possibility, as well as more targeted therapies and somatostatin receptors.
